Halloween is only a couple of days away, and this year it falls on a Saturday, which is great news for parents, kids and partygoers alike.  Many of us have fond childhood memories of donning a costume and hitting the streets at dusk for some trick or treating fun.  The GTA has all sorts of events and activities for all ages to celebrate this spooky night. We’ve put together a few suggestions that might interest you.

Canada’s Wonderland Halloween Haunt 

With over 700 walking dead prowling around, Canada’s Wonderland is transformed for 13 terrifying nights.  This year they have added one more maze to the original, and there will be 2 scare zones and 4 live shows as well as Spirit Manor and the return of the Zombie 4 D Interactive Ride.  These events are not recommended for visitors under 13 and no costumes will be allowed in the park.

Psycho With Live Orchestra – Roy Thomson Hall – Oct 31 – 7:30

Experience Alfred Hitchcock’s supreme suspense thriller as never before.  Every spine-tingling scene is made more vivid by having Bernard Hermann’s iconic score played live with the film by the superlative artists of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Screemers – Exhibition Place

In its 23rd terrifying season, the pay one price admission ticket includes entry to all six-blood curdling walkthrough attractions as well as unlimited carnival rides on the Midway of Mayhem.  The terrifying haunts include The Asylum, Skull Castle, The Diabolical House of Cards, The Darkness, The Maniac Maze, The Slasher Wax Museum and of course The Haunted House.

Evil Dead – The Musical - Oct 31 To Nov 9

This musical began in Toronto 12 years ago and has since been performed across the continent, including an off-Broadway run in 2006.  The story follows a group of college kids who find themselves trapped in a cabin with demons – the result is a combination of comedy, musical and thriller that has achieved notoriety as the only musical with a “splatter zone”.

Haunted High Park – Oct 31st - 8 And 11 PM – Colbourne Lodge

Visit the grounds of High Park in the dark and discover the chilling legends and ghost stories that have been spooking visitors for decades.  Guests will also experience a Victorian funeral and mourning traditions inside the candlelit rooms of the historic lodge and enjoy period refreshments – must be 13 plus. 

Toronto Ghost Walk – Oct 31 - 8 and 11 PM – Royal Conservatory of Music

Take a walk around the U of T’s St. George Campus and hear stories, myths and legends surrounding those who haunt the halls of some of Toronto’s oldest buildings.

Halloween Cruises – Oct 31 - 7 and 11 PM

Set sail for a spooky good time on a trip to Davy Jones locker and salute the excitement of the night as you sail past the Toronto harbour skyline during an evening of dancing and fun under the moon.  Costumes are encouraged.

A Night At The Rom – Friday Oct 30 – 7 PM

Enjoy a bit of pre-Hallowe’en fun at Toronto’s most unique social destination with food, drinks and live music so you can dance the night away among the ROM fossils while rubbing elbows with history.
